My Story

If you don’t believe in miracles, you will after you hear my story. It all started when I would visit my husband at work in Reading's Centre Park neighborhood, which turned out to be right next door to the Inn. At my first glance of the Inn, I fell in love with its architecture and romance.

One day a dear friend of mine gave me a call and told me to sharpen a pencil and open up the newspaper. It turned out that the owners of the inn were having a contest where anyone could write a 150-word essay about why they deserved to win the house; there was an entry fee of $130. The owners needed to have a minimum of 4,500 entries submitted in order to run the contest. Now, if you knew me, you'd realize that I can’t even say hello in 150 words, so my essay turned out to be 3,000. As it turns out, the owners didn't receive enough entries and the contest was cancelled.

A few months later I called a phone number regarding an antiques sale -- which happened to take place at the house of my dreams. I went to the sale and began talking to the owner of the house, who informed me that I would have been the contest winner had there been enough entries. Realizing my true passion for the Inn, she helped me arrange the funds I needed to own it. Then, 10 years ago (in 1997), I became the proud owner of the house of my dreams.

In the past 10 years, this house has played host to stars like Ivana Trump and Regis Philbin, as well as hundreds of weddings, birthday parties and other events. Please come share my dream house with me, if only for a night.
